Everyone is a poem
Everyone is a poem
Aching to be understood -
Written in the waves of
experience and memory.
Slip into the sea of stories
let the currents of curiosity carry us
past what we think we know.
If we go without the compass
of preconceived ideas
and dip beneath the shimmer
of our own reflection, we discover -
the ache they carry is our own.
I wrote this in reflection of scrolling through my instagram feed, seeing so many of us asking for attention. It feels like a sea of us shouting, raising our hands, begging to be noticed. We present a curated version that takes so much effort and get so little in return. We are drowning because the volume is just overwhelming for all of us. Meanwhile, the ads get all of the air space, like big ships to our little rafts.
And it made me think how clients struggle so much with the idea that everyone has it figured out. Everyone else seems so happy. Especially clients who spend any time on instagram. But if you zoomed into each account on instagram to get to the person behind the persona, you would get to know so much complexity and depth. My job allows me to see so clearly that nobody has it figured out, yet that is the beauty of us. The struggle we are all in connects us. Where is the app that can show us that?
